Welcome to the May 2009 issue of the LumberJocks eMag:
From the Editor
May 2009 Issue #23
The year is moving quickly and for many of us May is the time for working outside and getting that outdoor space looking spiffy! There will be decks and flower boxes being built, along with outdoor chairs, tables and serving carts. Also, I'm sure that we will be seeing projects posted of garden sculptures and gardening aids - oh the possibilities that await us. I cannot wait to see the extraordinary creations that will be shared this month!
Also, don't forget that May is the month of "Mother's Day". Remember to tell that special lady in your life how much you care and appreciate all that she does! Of course, with a little wood and some time, a lovely woodworking creation would be a nice touch as well!
And on that note -- Happy Building, everyone
~Debbie

LJ Apparel
What better way to promote our online community than by sporting some fancy LJ shirts! Well, I guess you could put on an LJ hat! Or maybe even a BBQ apron during those summer get-togethers! Yes, our Merchandise Store has been restocked - be sure to check out all the cool items, and, of course, make a purchase or two!
Stylish Boxes Book
Our very own Dennis Zongker is in the process of writing a "how to" book about "Stylish Boxes". This is really exciting - but it gets better! Included in his book will be 20 boxes created by LumberJocks!! Read more about this wonderful project and offer here in Dennis' blog.
Focus On...Mom
| Focus On Mom
Warning: I'm going to get a little sentimental this month!
Just out of curiosity, I did a search on the site to see if anything was labeled for "Mother". Sure enough several projects came up as a creation made specifically for a Mom.
|
|
Amongst the projects are:
- boxes,
- pencil holders,
- cutting boards,
- canes,
- Welsh Love Spoons,
- candle holders,
- Mother-in-Law kitchens,
- fireplaces, and
- a sewing machine table
Now this, by no means, lists all of the projects that have been created for all the mothers out there. I am sure that there are picture frames posted, wooden journals, sculptures, tables, and pens, of course!
The perfect gift for a mother can be a "first attempt" at something, something with perfect craftsmanship, or anything inbetween. It can be made by little hands, by grown hands, and by grown hands helping little hands! The gift can reflect the present, the past, or the future; it can symbolize one's love through the gift itself and it can hold items that bring back memories.
Regardless of the "what" and the "how", the time, work, and thought put into the gift says it all, "Thank you!"

This support has helped us become the people we are today, with the skills, passions, and creativity that are displayed in our woodworking projects. Who are the women in your life who have been there for you along your path? |

We're closely watching the stats. The 10,000 members milestone is just around the corner!
Last year, at this time, we were at "just' 4,280.
Maybe passing this eMag on to a few friends will put us past the 10,000 mark this week!
